Life is much often a constant challenge! It hasn’t been easy for me especially of late, but then I’m sure I’m not the only one; sometimes I feel so much effort just to exist! In such exhausting times, I think of the lives of suns and stars; they have to constantly work so hard to churn out enough energy to hold their existence against the relentless pressure of gravity. And when this balance is steadily maintained- they shine and shine BEAUTIFULLY!
To think that I have gone this far in this space and time, still breathing and following the inner light I meant to live, I can’t help but feel very humble and blessed! Regardless of success or failure, dreams won or lost, or how long I would last, I feel that each of our lives is touched by some grander sense of miracle when view from a larger context…even when life is seemingly careless and cruel!
To me, this miracle reveals itself through a very DELICATE sense of balance; a balance that creates and maintains order, giving rise and fall to all matters in the universe, down to the paths of our lives!
I think that in this conscious state-of-being, we’re all instinctively reached for that primal balance that govern our life, morally, emotionally, philosophically, physically or scientifically like Einstein’s quest to the one Unifying Theory of Everything. For me, it is all one of the same, both inward and outward and just expressed in various different means.
And from an inner perspective- not to mind that life is this-and-that, easy or hard; take strive, response, navigate, in turns create, adapt, grow, becoming parts of the life that is this-and-that, part of this bittersweet humanity (for the moment), part of this beautifully balanced GRAND conscious universe!
When we find that the inner balance is maintained, life RADIATES! John Lennon was right; he wrote- “And we all SHINE on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun! On and on and on…”

Hello Mike. Thanks again for sharing. Your thoughts are always inspirational. Its funny when I try to look at things now that I am teaching animation and some of the things that you said (including other teachers at CalArts) are sinking in JUST right now. Like for instance, when I flip the animation paper during my class demonstrations I can start to hear the paper going at 24 frames per second.
We never stop learning and growing.

This reminds me ‘The Missing piece’ by Shel Silverstein, and ‘Pezzettino’ by Leo Lionni. I read it when I was super little and the story still gives me lots of different interpretation and aspect of life. My all small pieces spreaded somewhere out, but hopefully they will all meet as one great block of colors at the never ending green, green land.
